[시사뉴스 정윤철 기자] 울산시 울주군이 가을을 맞아 언양읍과 삼남읍 일대에 ‘네모 가로수길’을 조성해 눈길을 끌고 있다.
울주군은 언양읍 남천로와 삼남읍 중남로 일대 은행나무 가로수를 대상으로 테마전정을 시범 시행했다고 21일 밝혔다.
테마전정은 불규칙하고 무성하게 자란 가로수를 기존의 특성은 살리면서 정형화된 모양으로 정돈하는 조경방식이다.
이번 전정 작업으로 가로수들은 네모 모양의 이색 가로수로 새단장해 아름다운 자태를 뽐낸다.
또한 가로수로 인한 신호등과 교통표지판 시야 방해, 전선 장애 등 시민 불편사항을 해소하고, 도심의 미관을 전체적으로 개선했다.
울주군은 매년 전정 및 관리사업을 실시해 이색 가로수를 조성하고, 영남알프스 산악관광과 연계한 새로운 관광상품으로 활용할 계획이다.
울주군 관계자는 “이번 테마전정 통해 도심에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 가로수를 색다른 볼거리로 만들었으니 많은 사랑과 관심을 부탁드린다”며 “정돈되지 않은 가로수로 인한 불편을 해소하고, 아름다운 거리를 조성하는 일석이조의 효과가 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
Ulju-gun, Ulsan-si, is attracting attention by creating "Nemo Garosu-gil" in Eonyang-eup and Samnam-eup areas for autumn.
Ulju-gun announced on the 21st that it has piloted a theme pavilion on street trees in Namcheon-ro, Eonyang-eup, and Jungnam-ro, Samnam-eup.
Theme pavilion is a landscaping method in which irregular and lushly grown street trees are arranged in a formalized shape while taking advantage of the existing characteristics.
With this vestibule work, the street trees are refurbished with square-shaped unique street trees to show off their beautiful appearance.
In addition, the city's beauty was improved overall by resolving inconvenience to citizens such as traffic lights, traffic signs, obstruction of visibility, and wire obstacles caused by street trees.
Ulju-gun plans to carry out pruning and management projects every year to create unique street trees and use them as new tourism products linked to mountain tourism in Yeongnam Alps.
An official from Ulju-gun said, "Through this theme exhibition, we have made street trees common in the city a unique attraction, so we ask for a lot of love and attention," adding, "We expect it to be effective in relieving inconvenience caused by untidy street trees and creating beautiful streets."
