[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 경북도민과 상주시민의 오랜 숙원사업인 중부내륙철도(문경~상주~김천)건설사업의 예비타당성조사(이하 예타) 통과로 사업추진에 청신호가 켜졌다.
이 사업은 2016년 제3차 국가철도망 구축계획 반영, 2019년 1월 국가균형발전 프로젝트 예비타당성조사 대상사업에 선정, 2019년 6월 예비타당성 조사에 착수해 2차례의 점검회의를 거친 후 2022년 11월16일 SOC 분과위원회를 개최하여 평가결과를 점검하였다.
그리고, 2022년 11월 28일 기획재정부에서 중부내륙철도(문경~상주~김천) 건설사업이 재정사업평가위원회에서 예비타당성조사 최종 통과를 발표하였다.
중부내륙철도(문경~상주~김천)건설사업은 문경에서 김천까지 총연장 69.8km 구간의 선형을 개량하고, 전철화하는 사업으로 총사업비는 1조 3,069억원 전액 국비가 투자되는 사업이다.
이 사업은 중부선(수서~김천~거제) 노선 중 유일한 미연결 구간으로써 사업이 시행되면 서울에서 거제까지 준고속 철도망이 완성되어 수도권과 중부내륙 낙후지역, 남부내륙을 연결하는 산업벨트 구축으로 지역 균형발전이 한단계 업그레이드 될 것으로 기대된다.
이 사업이 추진되면 서울 수서에서 상주까지 소요 시간이 1시간 17분, 상주에서 거제까지 1시간 30분으로 연결되어, 서울에서 거제까지 1시간 가량 단축될 것으로 전망된다.
강영석 상주시장은 “중부내륙철도 건설사업이 완성되면 상주시는 명실상부 대한민국의 중심축이 될 것이며, 지방균형발전과 지방시대를 여는 신성작 원동력으로 신산업, 교통, 관광문화발전의 획기적인 발전의 초석이 될 것이다.”라고 말했다.
향후, 이 사업은 2023년 국토교통부의 기본계획 수립을 거쳐, 기본 및 실시설계, 착공을 거쳐 2030년 완공될 예정이다.
The passage of the preliminary feasibility study (hereinafter referred to as preliminary feasibility study) of the Jungbu Inland Railway (Mungyeong-Sangju-Gimcheon), a long-cherished project for Gyeongbuk residents and Sangju citizens, has given a green light to the project.
The project was selected as a preliminary feasibility study for the National Balanced Development Project in January 2019, and the SOC subcommittee was held on November 16, 2022 to check the evaluation results after two preliminary feasibility studies were conducted in June 2019.
In addition, on November 28, 2022, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced the final passage of the preliminary feasibility study by the Financial Business Evaluation Committee for the construction project of the Central Inland Railway (Mungyeong-Sangju-Gimcheon).
The Jungbu Inland Railway (Mungyeong-Sangju-Gimcheon) construction project is a project to improve and electrify the line of 69.8km in total length from Mungyeong to Gimcheon, and the total cost of the project is 1.3069 trillion won.
The project is the only unconnected section of the Jungbu Line (Suseo-Gimcheon-Geoje) line, and if implemented, a semi-high-speed railway network from Seoul to Geoje will be completed, and balanced regional development will be upgraded by establishing an industrial belt connecting the metropolitan area, the central inland underdeveloped area, and the southern inland.
If the project is carried out, the time from Suseo to Sangju in Seoul will be reduced by about an hour and 17 minutes and from Sangju to Geoje by an hour and a half, which is expected to be reduced by about an hour from Seoul to Geoje.
Sangju Mayor Kang Young-seok said, "When the Central Inland Railway project is completed, Sangju City will be the centerpiece of Korea. It will be the cornerstone of the development of new industries, transportation, and tourism culture as a driving force for balanced regional development and local era."
In the future, the project is scheduled to be completed in 2030 after establishing a basic plan by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2023, basic, implemented design, and construction.
