[시사뉴스 정윤철 기자] 울산 북구는 14일 천곡동에서 천곡샘골생태공원 준공식을 가졌다.
천곡샘골생태공원은 2021년 환경부 공모사업에 선정돼 추진한 사업비 16억원 규모의 생태복원사업이다. 북구는 지난 5월부터 조성 공사를 시작해 10월 공사를 마쳤다.
북구는 8천910㎡의 부지에 나무 6천965그루를 심고, 잔디마당, 생태놀이터, 생태쉼터, 비오톱습지 등 편의시설과 돌무더기, 나무더미, 생태연못 등 생물 서식처를 조성해 인간과 자연이 어우러지는 친환경 생태휴식공간으로 만들었다.
천곡샘골생태공원이 들어선 천곡동 일원은 달천철장을 제외하고는 마땅한 공원이 없는 지역이라 공원을 찾는 사람들이 많을 것으로 기대된다.
북구 관계자는 "공원이 없었던 지역에 인간과 자연이 어우러지는 친환경 공원이 만들어져 주민 만족도가 높은 편"이라며 "천곡샘골생태공원이 주민들의 힐링공간으로 자리잡기를 바란다"고 말했다.

Cheongok Saemgol Ecological Park is an ecological restoration project worth 1.6 billion won, selected and promoted by the Ministry of Environment's public offering project in 2021. Buk-gu began construction in May and completed construction in October.
Buk-gu planted 6,965 trees on a 8,910㎡ site, and created amenities such as grass yards, ecological playgrounds, ecological shelters, and biotope wetlands, as well as habitats for living things such as piles of stones, piles of trees, and ecological ponds to make it an eco-friendly ecological rest area where humans and nature harmonize.
The area of Cheongok-dong, where the Cheongok Saemgol Ecological Park is located, is expected to be visited by many people because there is no suitable park except Dalcheon Cheoljang.
An official from Buk-gu said, "An eco-friendly park where humans and nature harmonize is created in an area where there was no park, so residents' satisfaction is high. We hope that Cheongok Saemgol Ecological Park will become a healing space for residents."
