[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 경상북도는 지난 4일 대구 인터불고 호텔에서 한일관계를 연구하는 일본석학, 오카야마 젠이치로 교수를 ‘경북도 명예 홍보대사’로 위촉했다고 밝혔다.
도는 과거 신라가 일본과 활발히 교류했던 당시처럼 신라의 본토였던 경북을 오늘날의 일본에 알리는 데 큰 힘을 보탤 것으로 보고 위촉 했다고 배경을 설명했다.
이날 명예홍보대사로 위촉된 오카야마 젠이치로(岡山善一郎) 교수는 前 일본 텐리(天理)대학교 외국어학과 교수(한국․조선어 전공)로 현재 동아시아고대학회와 일본조선학회 고문을 맡고 있다.
또 오카야마 교수는 고대 한일관계 연구자로서 신라와 일본의 문화교류, 한․일 국제교류의 과제와 방향성에 관한 강연 등 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있는 일본 내 한국학 권위자이다.
이철우 경북도지사는 “한․일 관계의 협력 증진과 경북의 대(對) 일본 교류와 홍보에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
[Reporter Kang Young-jin of Current Affairs News] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 4th that it has appointed Professor Kenichiro Okayama, a Japanese scholar who studies Korea-Japan relations, as an honorary ambassador for Gyeongsangbuk-do at the Interbulgo Hotel in Daegu.
The provincial government explained the background that it was commissioned because it believed that it would contribute greatly to promoting Gyeongbuk, which was the mainland of Silla, to today's Japan, as it did when Silla actively interacted with Japan in the past.
Professor Kenichiro Okayama, who was appointed as honorary ambassador on the same day, is a former professor of foreign languages at Tenri University in Japan (majoring in Korean and Korean), and is currently an advisor to the East Asian University Association and the Japanese Chosun Association.
Professor Okayama is an ancient Korea-Japan relations researcher who is an authority on Korean studies in Japan who is engaged in various activities such as cultural exchanges between Silla and Japan and lectures on the tasks and directions of international exchanges between Korea and Japan.
Lee Chul-woo, governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, "We expect it to be of great help to promote cooperation in Korea-Japan relations and to exchange and promote North Gyeongsang Province with Japan."
