[시사뉴스 정윤철 기자] 홍동곤 낙동강유역환경청장은 2월 9일 UNIST에서 개최되는 동남권 미세먼지 연구․관리센터 개소식에 참석했다.
UNIST는 지난해 9월 ｢미세먼지 저감 및 관리에 관한 특별법｣에 따라 ‘동남권 미세먼지연구·관리센터’로 지정되었으며, 동남권 관리권역을 대상으로 미세먼지로 인한 건강 피해의 예방·관리 등을 위한 조사·연구·교육 및 기술개발 등의 업무를 수행하게 된다.
또한, 이날 UNIST에서는 울산지역의 대기환경관리를 위한 “미세먼지 저감을 위한 자발적 협약식”도 함께 진행되었다. 자발적 협약에는 낙동강유역환경청, 울산광역시, 동남권 미세먼지연구･관리센터, 울산지역 31개 기업이 참여했다.
협약기관은 ‘23～‘24년 기간 동안 기업별 기준연도 대기오염물질 배출량 대비 약 40% 감축을 목표로 업체별 감축량, 연차별 저감계획 등의 이행계획을 적극 추진 및 지원하게 된다.
Hong Dong-gon, head of the Nakdong River Basin Environment Agency, attended the opening ceremony of the Southeast Region Fine Dust Research and Management Center at UNIST on February 9.
UNIST was designated as the 'Fine Dust Research and Management Center for the Southeast Region' under the 'Special Act on Fine Dust Reduction and Management' in September last year, and will conduct investigations, research, education, and technology development for the prevention and management of health damage caused by fine dust in the Southeast region.
On this day, UNIST also held a "Voluntary Agreement Ceremony to Reduce Fine Dust" to manage the air environment in Ulsan. The voluntary agreement involved the Nakdong River Basin Environment Agency, Ulsan Metropolitan City, the Southeast Regional Fine Dust Research and Management Center, and 31 companies in the Ulsan area.
The signatories will actively promote and support implementation plans such as company-specific reduction amounts and annual reduction plans, with the goal of reducing air pollutant emissions by about 40% from the base year for each company during the period of '23 to '24.
