[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 안동시(시장 권기창)는 제18회 세계역사도시회의 이튿날인 11월 15일 안동국제컨벤션센터에서 국외 자매우호도시 및 교류의향도시인 페루 쿠스코시, 그리스 코린트시, 아제르바이잔 슈샤시를 세계역사도시회의에 초청해 세계역사도시연맹 내 활동을 통해 도시 간 교류협력을 위한 4자도시 우호협정의향서를 체결했다.
안동시가 주도해 계획한 이번 4자도시 의향서는 페루 “잉카문명의 수도”인 쿠스코시와 그리스 로마시대 “고대 유적의 도시”코린트, 아제르바이잔 문화와 역사의 상징인 “투르크권 문화 수도”로 선정된 슈샤와 “한국정신문화의 수도”인 안동이 역사도시로서 활동을 위한 의향서를 도시별 대표가 참여해 서명했다.
이번 의향서에 참여한 4개 도시는 안동시에서 개최되는 국제교류 행사에 적극적으로 참여하고, 아울러 세계역사도시연맹의 회원도시로서 안동시와 함께 문화유산 보존과 개발 및 연맹 내 도시 간 활동을 장려하고 역사도시 글로벌 네트워크 구축을 위해 참여하게 됐다.
안동시가 초청한 국외 교류도시중 페루 쿠스코시는 세계역사도시연맹의 회원도시로 활동하고 있으며 그리스 코린트시와 아제르바이잔 슈샤시는 이번 세계대회 참여를 통해 연맹의 회원도시로 가입할 예정이다.
한편, 안동시는 현재 중국(핑딩산, 취푸, 지난, 시안), 일본(사가에, 가마쿠라, 다카야마), 페루(쿠스코), 그리스(코린트), 이스라엘(홀론) 5개국 10개도시와 자매우호 및 파트너시티로 체결하여 교류하고 있으며 오는 11월 17일 아제르바이잔 슈샤시와 우호교류도시 협정서를 체결할 예정이다.
Andong City (Mayor Kwon Ki-chang) invited its sister cities of Peru, Corinth, Greece, and Shusha, Azerbaijan, to the World Historical Cities Conference at the Andong International Convention Center on Nov. 15, the day after the 18th World Historical Cities Convention.
The four-way city letter, led by Andong City, was signed by representatives from each city, including Cuzco, the capital of Inca civilization, Corinth, the ancient ruins of Rome, Greece, Shusha, the symbol of Azerbaijan culture and history, and Andong, the capital of Korean spiritual culture.
The four cities that participated in the letter of intent actively participated in international exchange events in Andong City, and as a member city of the World Historical City Federation, they participated in Andong City to preserve and develop cultural heritage, encourage inter-city activities, and build a global network of historical cities.
Among the foreign exchange cities invited by Andong City, Cusco, Peru, is a member city of the World Historical City Federation, while Corinth, Greece, and Shusha, Azerbaijan, will join the federation through participation in the World Congress.
Meanwhile, Andong City is currently exchanging with 10 cities in five countries, including China (Pingdingsan, Qufu, Jin, Xi'an), Japan (Sagae, Kamakura, Takayama), Peru (Kusco), Greece (Corinth), and Israel (Holon), and is scheduled to sign a friendly exchange city agreement with Azerbaijan Shusha City on November 17.
