[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 한국가스공사(사장 채희봉)는 11월 15일 제주 오리엔탈 호텔에서 전국 34개 도시가스사와 ‘에너지 절약 실천 공동이행 선언문’을 발표했다고 16일 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 세계 에너지 시장의 불안이 지속되는 상황에서 정부 에너지 절약 및 효율화 정책에 적극 동참하고 에너지 절약을 실천함으로써 글로벌 에너지 위기를 극복하고자 마련됐다.
가스공사와 도시가스사는 동절기 난방수요 피크 기간 에너지 절약에 앞장서고, 소비자의 수요절감 프로그램 참여를 독려해 전 국민 에너지 절약 문화 확산에 적극 노력하기로 했다.
도시가스 수요절감 프로그램은 전년 같은 기간 대비 일정량 이상 주택 난방용 도시가스 소비를 줄이면 캐시백을 지급하는 것으로, 오는 12월부터 내년 3월까지 전국 가정용 도시가스 사용자 1,600여만 가구를 대상으로 시행될 예정이다.
가스공사와 도시가스사는 이번 프로그램과 국민 에너지 절약 거리 캠페인을 차질 없이 이행하는 데 힘을 모아 아껴 쓰고 절약하는 국민 행동 변화를 유도해 나간다는 방침이다.
가스공사 관계자는 “앞으로 정부 에너지 정책에 적극 부응하고, 나아가 도시가스 수요절감 프로그램을 성공적으로 안착시켜 에너지 절약 운동의 촉매제가 되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 가스공사는 지난달부터 본사 및 전국 17개 사업소 등 전사적 차원에서 과거 3개년 동절기 평균 에너지 사용량 대비 10% 이상 에너지 절감을 목표로 ▲실내 난방온도 및 시간 제한(17℃, 권역별 난방기 순차운휴), ▲실내외 조명 부분 소등, ▲개인 난방기 사용 금지 등을 실천하고 있다.

The urban gas demand reduction program will provide cashback if urban gas consumption for heating homes is reduced by a certain amount compared to the same period last year, and will be implemented for 16 million households nationwide from December to March next year.
The Korea Gas Corporation and the Korea Gas Corporation plan to work together to implement the program and the national energy saving street campaign without a hitch to induce changes in public behavior that saves and saves.
An official from the Korea Gas Corporation said, "We will do our best to actively respond to the government's energy policy and successfully settle the urban gas demand reduction program to become a catalyst for the energy conservation movement."
Meanwhile, since last month, the Korea Gas Corporation has been practicing ▲ indoor heating temperature and time limit (17℃, sequential operation of heaters by region), ▲ indoor and outdoor lighting, and ▲ banning the use of personal heaters.
