[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 경상북도는 지난 9일 청송군민운동장 일원에서 올해 대형산불 발생 시 최 일선에서 밤샘 진화를 하던 시군 산불전문예방진화대원들이 겨루는‘2022년 산불 지상진화 경연대회’를 개최했다.
이번 경연대회에는 22개 시군 산불담당 공무원과 산불전문예방진화대 등 300여명이 참가했다.
경연 종목으로는 산불현장지휘본부 설치‧운영과 기계화진화시스템을 이용한 산불초기 진화 능력 평가의 2가지 종목이었다.
특히, 경연의 하이라이트인 기계화시스템 운용을 통한 진화 종목은 진화대 1개조(12명)가 팀을 이뤄 행사장 뒤편 산림 300m지점에 산불 발생상황을 가정해 산불 진화차와 진화호스, 저수조를 연결해 진화하는 방식으로 진행됐다.
이 종목은 숙련된 진화장비 운용능력과 협동을 통한 산불초기 대응으로 진화와 잔불정리 등의 임무를 완벽히 수행하기 위해 진행됐다.
이날 실전과 훈련으로 다져진 22개 시군 진화대들의 치열한 경쟁을 뚫고 1위를 차지한 팀은 청송군이며, 2위는 포항시, 3위는 칠곡군이 차지했다.
배기헌 경북도 산림자원과장은 “산불은 나기 전에 예방하는 것이 최선이지만 발생한 산불은 초동진화로 피해를 줄이는 것이 가장 중요하다”며, “매년 산불지상진화 경연대회를 통해 산불대응능력을 키워 경북이 전국 최강의 산불진화대가 되도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

About 300 people, including forest fire officials from 22 cities and counties and forest fire prevention teams, participated in the contest.
The competition was two events: the establishment and operation of the forest fire site command headquarters and the evaluation of the ability to extinguish early forest fires using a mechanized evolution system.
In particular, one group (12 people) of the evolutionary team teamed up to extinguish the fire by connecting forest fire extinguishing vehicles, fire hoses, and water tanks 300m behind the venue.
The event was carried out to completely carry out missions such as extinguishing and cleaning up residual fires by responding to early forest fires through skilled operation capabilities and cooperation.
Cheongsong-gun topped the list through fierce competition among 22 cities and counties, which were strengthened by practice and training, followed by Pohang-si City and Chilgok-gun County.
"It is best to prevent forest fires before they break out, but it is most important to reduce damage by initial evolution," said Bae Ki-heon, head of the forest resources division in Gyeongbuk Province. "We will develop our ability to respond to forest fires through the annual forest fire extinguishing contest."
