[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 대구시는 11월 1일(화), 산격동 청사에서 주요 출자자인 대구은행, 경북대학교기술지주, 아이디어브릿지파트너스(펀드 운용사), 대구디지털혁신진흥원과 함께 대구 미래산업의 주요 분야 육성을 위한 ‘ABB 성장펀드 조성·운용’을 위한 업무 협약식을 개최했다.
이번 협약식은 효율적인 ABB 성장펀드 조성 및 운용과 ABB 산업 육성을 위한 지역 투자생태계 기반을 형성하고자 대구시를 비롯한 출자자 간 상호 업무 협력하고자 마련됐다.
‘ABB 성장펀드’ 는 대구시 민선8기의 주요 화두인 ABB(인공지능(AI), 빅데이터(Big Data), 블록체인(Block Chain)) 산업 육성을 위한 지역 최초 ABB 전용 펀드이다. 관련 핵심기술을 보유한 기업의 자금조달 및 지역 정착에 보탬이 되고자 조성한다. 이는 대구를 ‘ABB 산업 선도도시, 디지털 혁신 거점도시’ 조성을 위한 4차 산업혁명 시대의 핵심 정책이다.
본 펀드는 한국벤처투자(중소벤처기업부 산하 공공기관)가 추진하는 한국모태펀드 특허계정 출자조합에 선정 및 결성된 것으로 한국모태펀드 140억원, 대구시 40억원, 기타(대구은행, 경북대기술지주, 운용사 등) 54억원이 출자된 총 234억원 규모이다. 지난 9월 말 최종 조성을 완료했으며, 대구시는 ’22년부터 매년 10억씩 4년 분납으로 출자할 계획이다.
대구시가 출자한 40억원의 2배수인 80억원을 ’22년 11월부터 ’25년까지 대구 소재 ABB 중소·벤처기업 10여 개사에 투자할 예정이다. 투자받은 기업은 경영, 재무, 인사관리, 후속 투자 등 기업 성장을 위한 지속적인 멘토링과 코칭의 사후관리를 지원받을 수 있다.
대구시는 이번 ABB 전용 펀드를 시작으로 ’26년까지 총 1천억 규모의 펀드를 조성할 계획이다. ’23년에도 230억원 규모 이상의 신규 펀드를 조성하고자 대구시 출자예산 80억원을 확보해 ’23년부터 매년 20억씩 4년 분납으로 출자할 예정이다.
이러한 펀드 조성의 점진적 확대는 수도권에 80% 이상 집중돼 있는 벤처 투자금, 열악한 지역 투자 인프라에다 고금리, 고물가의 경기 불황으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 지역 ABB 기업들의 자금조달 애로 해소에 보탬이 될 것으로 전망된다.
이종화 대구시 경제부시장은 “ABB 펀드의 지속적인 확대 조성을 통한 지역 투자생태계 활성화로 투자받은 지역의 유망한 기업들이 고성장해 세계적 기업으로 도약하기를 바란다”며, “지역 ABB 산업 성장을 위한 마중물 역할을 톡톡히 해 지역경제 성장을 이끌 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
On November 1 (Tue), Daegu City held a business agreement ceremony to create and operate ABB growth funds to foster major sectors of the Daegu future industry with Daegu Bank, Kyungpook National University Technology Holdings, Idea Bridge Partners (fund operator), and Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency.
The agreement ceremony was designed to cooperate with investors, including Daegu City, to form a foundation for a regional investment ecosystem to create and operate ABB growth funds efficiently and foster the ABB industry.
The "ABB Growth Fund" is the region's first ABB-only fund to foster the ABB (Artificial Intelligence), Big Data, and Block Chain) industries, which are the main topics of the 8th popular election in Daegu. It is created to contribute to financing and regional settlement of companies with related core technologies. This is a key policy in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution to create Daegu as an "ABB industry leading city, digital innovation hub city."
The fund was selected and formed by Korea Venture Investment (public institutions under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) as a patent account investment association of Korea Mortgage Fund, 14 billion won in Daegu, 4 billion won in Daegu, and 5.4 billion won in other (Daegu Bank, Gyeongbuk University Technology Holdings, and Management). The final construction was completed at the end of September, and Daegu City plans to invest 1 billion won every year in installments for 4 years from 2022.
It plans to invest 8 billion won, double the 4 billion won invested by Daegu City, in about 10 small and medium-sized ABB and venture companies in Daegu from November 22 to 25. The invested company can receive support for continuous mentoring and coaching follow-up management for corporate growth, such as management, finance, personnel management, and follow-up investment.
Starting with the ABB-only fund, Daegu City plans to create a total of 100 billion won by the year 26. In order to create a new fund worth more than 23 billion won in 2023, Daegu City will secure 8 billion won in investment budget and invest 2 billion won every year in installments for four years from 23.
The gradual expansion of the fund is expected to help local ABB companies struggling with venture investment, poor regional investment infrastructure, high interest rates and high prices in the Seoul metropolitan area.
