[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 대구소방안전본부(본부장 정남구)는 화재 위험성이 높은 겨울철을 앞두고 11월 1일부터 20일간 전통시장 특별 안전점검에 나선다.
대구지역의 경우, 과거 서문시장 화재와 최근 농수산물도매시장 화재에서 보듯이 서민들이 즐겨 이용하는 전통시장에서 발생한 대형화재가 많았다.
이번 특별 안전점검은 지난달 25일(화) 발생한 매천동 농수산물도매시장 화재와 같은 대형 화재의 재발을 방지하고, 특히 취약한 겨울철을 맞아 화재 발생 시 큰 피해가 우려되는 전통시장과 도매시장을 대상으로 화재 위험요인을 사전 제거하여 서민 경제의 안정을 도모하고자 추진한다.
효과적인 점검을 위해 소방본부 특별조사팀을 중심으로 건축, 전기, 가스 등으로 합동점검 팀을 꾸려, 전통시장 및 도매시장 121개소에 대한 특별 안전점검을 실시한다.
대체적으로 노후된 시장의 특성을 감안해 소방시설 정상 작동 여부를 중점 확인하고, 피난·방화 시설, 노후 전기 시설, 불량 가스배관, 가설건축물 적정 설치 등 각 분야별 시설을 세밀하게 살펴볼 방침이다.
이번 점검을 통해 지적된 사항 가운데 경미한 사항은 현장에서 즉시 보완하고, 중대한 위반사항은 보완명령 조치 등을 통해 최대한 빠른 시일 내 조치를 완료할 계획이다.
아울러 시장 상인과의 간담회를 통해 화재 경각심을 높이고, 냉장(동)고 후면 먼지 청소, 난방용품 주변 가연성 물질 방치 금지 등 행정지도를 병행하며 관계자의 화재 안전의식을 향상할 계획이다.
정남구 대구소방안전본부장은 “오는 11월 9일(수) 소방의 날에는 기존의 경축행사 대신 이태원 사고의 교훈을 되새기며 화재예방 캠페인 등 현장 안전 활동에 집중할 계획”이라며 “겨울철 화재예방을 위해 시민 여러분의 각별한 관심과 적극적인 협조를 당부드린다”고 말했다.
Daegu Fire Safety Headquarters (Director Jeong Nam-gu) will conduct a special safety inspection of traditional markets for 20 days from November 1st ahead of the winter season when the risk of fire is high.
In the case of Daegu, there were many large-scale fires that occurred in traditional markets enjoyed by ordinary people, as seen in the past fires at Seomun Market and the recent fire at the agricultural and fisheries wholesale market.
The special safety inspection will prevent the recurrence of large fires such as the fire at the agricultural and fisheries wholesale market in Maecheon-dong on the 25th (Tue) of last month, and remove fire risk factors in traditional and wholesale markets, which are feared to cause serious damage in case of a fire.
For effective inspection, a joint inspection team of architecture, electricity, and gas will be set up around the special investigation team of the Fire Department to conduct special safety inspections on 121 traditional and wholesale markets.
Considering the characteristics of the aging market, the government plans to focus on the normal operation of firefighting facilities and examine facilities in each field, including evacuation and fire prevention facilities, old electricity facilities, poor gas pipes, and proper installation of temporary buildings.
Among the points pointed out through this inspection, minor matters will be immediately supplemented at the site, and serious violations will be completed as soon as possible through supplementary orders.
In addition, through meetings with market merchants, administrative guidance such as raising fire awareness, cleaning dust behind refrigerators (copper), and banning combustible substances near heating supplies will be provided to improve fire safety awareness.
Jeong Nam-gu, head of the Daegu Fire Safety Headquarters, said, "On November 9th (Wed), we plan to focus on on on-site safety activities such as fire prevention campaigns instead of the existing celebrations."
