[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 대구시는 10월 28일(금) 오전 10시 제6회 대구국제미래모빌리티 엑스포가 열리는 엑스코에서 지자체 최초로 미국 항공우주분야 전문기업인 벨 텍스트론(Bell Textron Inc)과 함께 첨단항공모빌리티 산업육성을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
대구시는 전날 SK텔레콤, 한화시스템, 한국공항공사, 티맵모빌리티와UAM 시범도시 및 상용화를 위한 협력관계를 구축한 데 이어, 최근 드론 및 UAM으로 사업영역을 확장 중인 벨 텍스트론과도 업무협약을 체결해 드론에서부터 첨단항공모빌리티까지 폭넓은 협력관계를 구축하게 됐다.
벨은 텍사스주 포트워스에 본사를 둔 미국 항공우주 제조기업으로 세계 최초로 민간용 헬기를 개발한 글로벌 기업이며, 한국에서는 최초의 대통령 전용 헬기(UH-1H)와 한국전쟁 당시 부상병 수송헬기(H-13)의 제조사로 잘 알려져 있다.
최근 개발 중인 ‘APT-70’ 드론은 최고 시속 160km, 비행거리 56km, 최대 중량 170kg으로 의료, 재난, 구조, 군수, 물자 수송 등 다양하게 활용되도록 설계돼 있다.
대구시는 벨 텍스트론과의 업무협약을 계기로 무인 물류 배달에서부터 무인항공 서비스, 첨단항공모빌리티 산업 육성에 이르기까지 다양한 협력 방안들을 논의할 계획이며,
특히, 대구시의 도심항공모빌리티(UAM) 서비스의 실증-시범도시-상용화 등 단계별 추진에 있어 벨과 협력해 화물 운송 및 여객 서비스를 선도적으로 추진할 수 있을 것으로 예상하고 있다.
홍준표 대구시장은 “미국의 3대 헬리콥터 제조사 중 하나이며 세계 최초로 민간용 헬기를 개발한 기업과 국내 지자체 중 최초로 도심항공교통(UAM) 분야 글로벌 네트워크를 구축하는 계기를 마련하게 됐다”며, “향후 글로벌 도시 간 협력 네트워크를 확대해 도심항공교통분야를 선도하고 관련산업도 적극적으로 육성할 계획”이라고 말했다.
[Reporter Kang Young-jin] Daegu City signed a business agreement to foster the high-tech aviation mobility industry with Bell Textron Inc., the first local government company in the U.S. aerospace sector, at Exco, where the 6th Daegu International Future Mobility Expo will be held at 10 a.m. on October 28 (Fri).
Daegu City established a partnership with SK Telecom, Hanwha System, Korea Airports Corporation, and T-Map Mobility for UAM pilot city and commercialization the previous day, and signed a business agreement with Bell Textron, which is expanding its business area to drones and UAM.
Bell is a U.S. aerospace manufacturer based in Fort Worth, Texas, and is the world's first global company to develop private helicopters, and is well-known in Korea as the manufacturer of the first presidential helicopter (UH-1H) and the Korean War wounded helicopter (H-13).
The recently developed "APT-70" drone has a maximum speed of 160km/h, a flight distance of 56km/h, and a maximum weight of 170kg, and is designed to be used in a variety of ways, including medical, disaster, rescue, military, and material transportation.
With the business agreement with Bell Textron, Daegu City plans to discuss various cooperation measures ranging from unmanned logistics delivery to unmanned air service and fostering the advanced air mobility industry.
In particular, it is expected that cargo transportation and passenger services will be able to be promoted in cooperation with Bell in step-by-step promotion such as demonstration-model city-commercialization of urban aviation mobility (UAM) services in Daegu.
Hong Joon Pyo Daegu Mayor said, "It is one of the top three helicopter manufacturers in the U.S. and the world's first private helicopter developer and the first local government in Korea to establish a global network of urban air transportation."
