[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 신라 천년의 혼을 느낄 수 있는 경주도자기축제가 오는 21일부터 30일까지 10일간 경주 황성공원 실내체육관 앞 광장에서 열린다.
경주에서 도자문화를 한눈에 볼 수 있는 이번 행사는 각종 도자기와 생활 공예품들을 직접 보고 만지고 소장할 수 있다.
그간 도자기축제는 코로나19 영향으로 지난 2년간 행사가 취소돼 축제를 기다리는 시민들과 관광객들에게는 많은 아쉬움을 남겼다.
올해로 20회째를 맞아 ‘다시~ 세상속으로’라는 주제로 열리는 이번 축제는 지역 도예가들이 예술혼과 열정을 담아 빚은 신라토기부터 청자, 백자, 현대자기까지 전통성과 실용성을 갖춘 1만여 점의 다양한 도자기를 만날 수 있다.
유명도예 작가들의 퍼포먼스와 도자기를 굽는 제작 과정을 볼 수 있는 라꾸가마 시연(21~23일, 28~29일), 물레성형 및 도자기 만들기 체험이 펼쳐진다.
또 한가족도자기 만들기 대회(23일), 어린이 다도(22일) 및 도자기 만들기(29일) 대회, 초벌구이 그림 그리기 체험 프로그램 운영으로 아이들의 호기심 유발 등으로 가족단위 방문객들을 유도할 계획이다.
특히 이번 축제는 단순히 도자기를 전시하고 판매하는 것을 넘어 이색 이벤트도 선보인다.
행사장 내 무대에서는 이색적인 문화공연과 민속놀이가 상시 열리며, 평소 갖고 싶던 도자기를 부담 없이 구입할 수 있는 ‘만원의 행복(24~28일)’, 고유의 이색 찻잔을 이용한 다도시연 및 체험 등 직접 보고 즐길 수 있는 이벤트도 풍성하게 열린다.
주낙영 시장은 “예로부터 경주는 신라토기를 탄생시킨 도예문화의 산실이며, 현재까지 금속공예, 목공예, 석공예 등 다양한 분야에서 수준 높은 공예문화의 맥을 이어오고 있다”며 “이번 지역 도예가들이 현대적 또는 창의적으로 재해석한 도자기 걸작을 직접 체험하고 느낄 수 있는 이번 축제에 많은 관심과 참여를 부탁한다” 고 말했다.

This event, where you can see ceramic culture at a glance in Gyeongju, allows you to see, touch, and collect various ceramics and daily crafts.
Until now, the ceramic festival has been canceled over the past two years due to the influence of COVID-19, leaving many regrets for citizens and tourists waiting for the festival.
The festival, which marks its 20th anniversary this year, offers more than 10,000 different ceramics with traditional and practicality, ranging from Silla pottery made with art spirit and passion by local potters to celadon, white porcelain and modern pottery.
Rakugama demonstration (21-23rd, 28th-29th), where you can see the performances of famous ceramic artists and the production process of baking ceramics, and the experience of spinning wheels and making ceramics will be held.
It also plans to attract family visitors by operating a family pottery making contest (23rd), a children's tea ceremony (22nd), a pottery making contest (29th), and a first-baked drawing experience program.
In particular, the festival goes beyond simply displaying and selling ceramics, and also presents unique events.
Unique cultural performances and folk games will be held on the stage at the venue at all times, and there will be plenty of events to see and enjoy, including "Happiness of 10,000 won (24th to 28th)" where you can purchase pottery you want without any burden, and tea demonstrations and experiences using unique teacups.
Mayor Joo Nak-young said, "Since ancient times, Gyeongju has been the birthplace of pottery culture that has created Silla pottery, and has continued to have a high-quality craft culture in various fields such as metal, wood, and stone crafts. We ask for a lot of attention and participation in this festival where local potters can experience and feel modern or creative ceramic masterpieces."
