[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 경상북도는 13일 삼국통일 위업을 기리는 3대 대왕의 혼이 서린 경주 통일전에서 「제44회 통일서원제」를 거행했다.
행사에는 이철우 경북도지사, 주낙영 경주시장, 도의원 등 기관․단체장과 민주평화통일자문회의, 민족통일 협의회원, 학생, 시민 등 1000여명이 참석했다.
이날 통일서원제는 도민 모두가 참여할 수 있는 무궁화 지도 만들기 를 시작으로, 신라고취대 연주, 헌화 및 분향, 통일결의문 낭독, 통일염원 한마음 퍼포먼스, 주제공연, 우리의 소원 노래 제창 순으로 진행됐다.
통일전은 1977년에 건립돼 신라가 이룩한 삼국통일의 위업을 기리고, 민족의 최대숙원인 남북통일에 대한 염원을 담고 있는 곳이다.
삼국통일에 큰 공을 세운 신라 태종무열왕 김춘추와 김유신장군, 그리고 삼국통일의 대업을 완수한 문무대왕 영정이 모셔져 있고, 삼국통일 기록화가 전시돼 있다.
이철우 경북도지사는 “신라의 통일은 한반도 최초의 통일로 오늘날 대한민국의 원동력으로 물리적 통일뿐만 아니라 화학적 통일로까지 이어져 단일 민족국가로서 첫 발을 내딛게 된 역사적 대 사건이었다”며, “통일전에 깃든 삼국통일의 뜻을 이어받아 경북이 통일의 중심이 되겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 도는 경주 통일전을 내년부터 직접 관리ㆍ운영한다. 향후 시설관리, 운영인력 채용 등 운영 전반적인 운영계획을 세우고, 이관에 필요한 사전절차 이행 등을 거친 후 경북독립운동기념관에 위탁해 학술연구와 교육프로그램 개발 등을 추진할 방침이다.

More than 1,000 people attended the event, including Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Chul-woo, Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young, and provincial councilors, as well as members of the Advisory Council for Democratic and Peaceful Unification, students and citizens.
Starting with creating a map of Mugunghwa that all residents can participate in, the Unification Seowon Festival was held in the order of performing Silla Gochidae, offering flowers and incense, reading unification resolutions, unification wish performance, theme performance, and singing our wish song.
The Unification Exhibition Hall was built in 1977 to commemorate the achievements of the unification of the three kingdoms achieved by Silla, and contains the desire for the unification of the two Koreas, the biggest desire of the people.
It houses Kim Chun-chu, King Taejong Muyeol of Silla, General Kim Yu-shin, who made great contributions to the unification of the three countries, and the portrait of King Munmu, who completed the great work of unification of the three countries, and a documentary painting of the unification of the three countries is on display.
"The unification of Silla was a historic event that led to chemical unification as well as physical unification as the driving force of the Republic of Korea today," said Lee Chul-woo, governor of Gyeongbuk Province. "Gyeongbuk will become the center of unification."
Meanwhile, the province will directly manage and operate the Gyeongju Unification Exhibition from next year. In the future, it plans to establish an overall operation plan such as facility management and recruitment of operating personnel, implement pre-procedures necessary for transfer, and entrust it to the Gyeongbuk Independence Movement Memorial to develop academic research and education programs.
