[시사뉴스 강영진 기자] 사단법인 경주시종합자원봉사센터(이사장 정재윤)는 탄소중립 실천의 일환으로 아이스팩 재사용 활성화를 위해 ‘안녕! 외동 아이스팩 챌린지’ 프로그램을 운영했다.
경주시종합자원봉사센터 외동거점 주관으로 진행된 이번 프로그램은 지난달 30일과 이달 13일~14일 3일간 외동 미소지움과 사랑으로부영 아파트 등에서 진행됐다.
이 기간 외동읍 친절한경자씨(경주 자원봉사자)와 주민 등 200여 명이 참여했다.
프로그램은 참여자들이 젤타입 아이스팩을 가져오면 3개당 종량제 봉투(20L) 한 장을 교환해 주며 운영됐다.
이렇게 수거된 아이스팩 수는 1500여 개다. 모두 재활용을 위해 외동읍 내 필요한 곳에 무료로 배부됐다.
센터는 이번 프로그램 운영을 통해 새로운 봉사자들이 많이 유입될 것으로 기대한다.
정재윤 이사장은 “외동거점이 운영으로 외동읍민들의 자원봉사가 활성화가 되고, 탄소중립에도 많은 관심을 가져 주길 바란다”며, “앞으로도 기후변화 대응에 동참하는 프로그램을 발굴해서 추진해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
한편 경주외동미소지움 아파트에는 790여 가구, 경주외동사랑으로부영 아파트엔 3200여 가구가 거주하고 있다.

The program, organized by the outer-dong base of the Gyeongju City Volunteer Center, was held for three days from the 30th of last month and from the 13th to the 14th of this month at Booyoung apartments with only smile and love.
During this period, more than 200 people, including kind Kyung-ja (Gyeongju volunteer) and residents of Oedong-eup, participated.
The program was operated by exchanging one 20L standard plastic bag per three when participants brought gel-type ice packs.
The number of ice packs collected in this way is about 1,500. All were distributed free of charge to places needed in Oedong-eup for recycling.
The center expects the program to attract many new volunteers.
Chairman Chung Jae-yoon said, "We hope that the operation of the Oe-dong base will revitalize the volunteer work of the Oe-dong residents and pay a lot of attention to carbon neutrality," adding, "We will continue to discover and promote programs that participate in responding to climate change."
Meanwhile, there are 790 households living in Gyeongju Oedong Misoum Apartment and 3,200 households in Gyeongju Oedong Sarang-ro Booyoung Apartment.
