[시사뉴스 정윤철 기자] 한국수력원자력(주) 월성원자력본부(본부장 김한성)가 지난 9일 대한적십자사 울산혈액원과 함께 '사랑의 헌혈운동'을 진행했다고 10일 밝혔다.

대한적십자사에 따르면 현재 우리나라는 인구의 고령화와 각종 사고 증가 등으로 혈액 수요는 계속 증가하는 반면, 헌혈 인구가 이에 미치지 못해 혈액 공급에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 혈액을 수입하는 실정이라고 한다.

이날 헌혈운동에는 월성본부 직원 40여명이 자발적으로 참여해 생명 나눔을 실천했다. 월성본부는 희망자 사전신청을 받아 개인별 헌혈시간을 조정해 대기시간을 없애고, 순환차량을 운행하는 등 헌혈운동을 적극 지원했다.

이날 헌혈에 참여한 김정호 경영지원실장은 “나의 헌혈이 필요한 이웃들에게 조그마한 도움이라도 되었으면 한다”면서, “생명 나눔과 사랑의 실천에 더 많은 분들이 참여하길 바란다.”고 말했다.

김한성 본부장은 “혈액 수급에 어려움을 겪고 있는 상황에서 수혈이 필요한 환자의 생명을 구하는 유일한 수단인 헌혈에 동참해준 직원들이 자랑스럽다”면서 “월성본부는 앞으로도 다양한 사회공헌활동을 적극적으로 추진해나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Corporation (KHNPC) Wolsung Nuclear Power Headquarters (General Manager Kim Han-sung) announced on the 10th that it held a 'Love Blood Drive' with the Ulsan Blood Center of the Korean Red Cross on the 9th.

According to the Korean Red Cross, Korea is currently facing many difficulties in blood supply due to the aging population and increasing number of accidents, while the demand for blood continues to increase, but the number of people donating blood is not enough, and blood is being imported.

More than 40 employees of Wolseong Headquarters voluntarily participated in the blood drive to share life. Wolseong Headquarters actively supported the blood drive by accepting pre-applications for donors, adjusting the blood donation time for each individual to eliminate waiting time, and operating a circulation vehicle.

"I hope that my blood donation will be of even the slightest help to my neighbors in need," said Kim Jeong-ho, Head of Management Support, who participated in the blood donation on the day.

"We are proud of our employees for donating blood, which is the only way to save the lives of patients in need of transfusions in a situation where blood supply is in short supply," said Kim Han-sung, General Manager of Wolseong Headquarters. "We will continue to actively promote various social contribution activities."
