[Reporter Jung Moon-kyun of Current News] Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-soo) has joined hands with a semiconductor company to establish a department in the semiconductor field and foster talent.
Pukyong National University College of Technology (President Wang Je-pil) signed a business agreement with B2G (CEO Shin Jung-hoon, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do) at the conference room of Engineering Hall 1 on the 28th afternoon to strengthen industrial competitiveness in next-generation semiconductors and foster R&D and innovative talent.
Through this agreement, B2G Co., Ltd. agreed to donate one MOCVD, an organometallic chemical vapor deposition equipment for the power semiconductor manufacturing process, and one HVPE, a hydrogen chemical vapor deposition equipment, to Pukyong National University. The new value of these equipment amounts to 5 billion won.
Pukyong National University and B2G have decided to use these equipment to discover joint R&D tasks, carry out industry-academic projects, and train professionals. In addition, Pukyong National University will train manpower in the next-generation semiconductor field and make efforts to open and operate a curriculum that reflects corporate demand.
Pukyong National University plans to accelerate its plan to create a new semiconductor department and graduate school from 2024 to produce 250 semiconductor professionals annually, including 50 undergraduate and 200 graduate schools.
Pukyong National University is building a new department based on the human and material infrastructure of the "semiconductor major track business" and "smart green convergence material talent development research group," which are funded by the government.
